Join us for a fireside chat with Karen T. Comfort, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She will share insights on fostering inclusion within our federal workplaces. Following the conversation, a panel of representatives from across HHS will dive into their experiences, successes, and lessons learned in promoting more inclusive and supportive environments at their agencies.
In recent years, agency survey data has shown that far too many of our colleagues have encountered negative experiences within their workplace, such as harassment and discrimination, especially those employees who are from racial, sexual, and gender minority groups, as well as persons with disabilities. While our agency has made numerous strides forward toward addressing these issues and accepting accountability at an institutional level, it is imperative that we recognize the work that is being done by our own employees at a grassroots level and allow them to share their experiences in the workplace, their strategies for change, and the impact they have witnessed or would like to see.
Individuals with disabilities who need Sign Language Interpreters and/or reasonable accommodation to participate in this event should contact Shyam Patel, NIH SGMRO, via e-mail at shyam.patel@nih.gov.
