EDI Service Statement

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) supports NIH efforts in advancing racial equity for NIH staff through continuing affirmative programs to:

  • promote equal employment opportunity (EEO)

  • identify and eliminate discrimination from the agency's personnel policies, practices, and working conditions

  • serve as a neutral resource to employees and management regarding EEO rights and responsibilities

  • collaborate with employees and management to resolve workplace issues

  • provide reasonable accommodation guidance and consultation to employees and management

  • promote the understanding and appreciation of an inclusive and diverse workplace culture

  • implement data-driven inclusive programs and practices to ensure critical perspectives and talents are represented and leveraged to advance health discovery

  • ensure individuals from underserved communities are treated equitably, including those requiring equitable access to agency programs, activities, or services

  • ensure that management is responsible for the achievement of EEO and Diversity objectives
